Network Access Through Cellular SIM Router

The cellular SIM router provides flexible mobile internet connectivity for surveillance security camera systems through two main methods: wireless Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet via a LAN cable. You can use the OutdoorRouter to connect your individual Wi-Fi cameras, as well as traditional NVR and CCTV cameras.

Wireless Wi-Fi Hotspots

Compared to regular indoor SIM routers, our outdoor routers feature a waterproof enclosure and a powerful Wi-Fi booster, allowing wireless signals to broadcast up to 150–300 yards in open areas.

SIM card routers support single-band 2.4 GHz and dual-band Wi-Fi hotspots, depending on the model. The 5.8 GHz hotspot is ideal for high-speed internet over shorter distances, while the 2.4 GHz hotspot provides broader coverage and better wall penetration, making it more compatible with legacy Wi-Fi-enabled cameras. These different frequency options allow users to optimize their network based on the positioning of security cameras at various distances from the router.

To achieve more precise wireless signal distribution, you can replace the Wi-Fi antennas with directional Yagi or panel antennas, enabling targeted wireless broadcasting to specific areas.

Wired LAN Ethernet

All of our cellular SIM routers come equipped with Ethernet ports to ensure wired connectivity. The indoor models feature multiple RJ45 LAN ports, which support direct connections and network switches.

The outdoor models utilize PoE (Power over Ethernet) technology, allowing for the transmission of both DC power and Ethernet data through a PoE injector. In outdoor setups, you can deploy a PoE switch to expand the network scale. Additionally, multiple PoE extenders can be used to increase the connection distance up to a maximum of 250 meters.

Benefits From Cellular SIM Router

Cellular SIM router provides several advantages over landline internet, particularly in flexibility, deployment speed, and operational range. Unlike conventional systems that require extensive infrastructure like cables and fixed internet connections, SIM card router can be deployed quickly in any area with mobile signal coverage, making them ideal for remote locations, temporary sites, and regions with limited internet access.

These networks are also cost-effective. Traditional CCTV setups involve high upfront costs for cables and installation, whereas mobile SIM routers minimize infrastructure needs, reducing installation and maintenance costs. They can be easily relocated or reconfigured, perfect for dynamic environments.

The mobile internet access can act as a backup internet gateway when you have a landline internet already. When the landline disruptions due to cable damage or outages, mobile SIM routers offer failover internet to your security cameras.

Choose A Cellular SIM Router

When selecting a cellular SIM router for your camera system, the first factor to consider is network compatibility and coverage. Assess the cellular network bands and technologies (such as 4G and 5G) supported by the router, ensuring they align with the cellular providers in your area. If you have multiple cameras streaming, choose a router with a higher UE-grade mobile modem for faster speeds and larger bandwidth.

Additionally, check the connection type required by your camera system. If it uses Wi-Fi, ensure its operating bands are compatible with the router’s Wi-Fi hotspots. Finally, evaluate your mobile signal quality, particularly in areas with weak reception. Outdoor routers support external antennas, which can significantly improve mobile signal reception.
