What is the SIM Enabled WiFi Extender?
Compared with regular WiFi range extenders and mobile modems, the SIM enabled WiFi extender offers flexible internet options with long-range WiFi extensions. Designed for outdoor and industrial usage, its WiFi hotspots output high power and cover 100~300 yards in open space.
- In off grid remote areas, it works standalone and uses an integrated mobile modem to provide broadband internet through a SIM card. You can enjoy fast 4G or 5G internet on wireless WiFi and a wired LAN, ensuring internet connectivity even in rural farms or campsites.
- When you have existing landline internet or Starlink modem, you can connect it to them through wired WAN and WiFi relay to expand your internet options. The integrated multiple WANs and load balancing functions could choose either internet options or use all of them simultaneously.
An additional benefit is the built-in 4G/5G modem. If your primary internet connection fails, your network can seamlessly switch to mobile internet and ensure you stay in continuous connectivity.
How SIM Card WiFi Extender Work?
Ever wonder how a SIM card WiFi extender can solve your WiFi woes?
SIM card range extender uses multiple WAN tunnels to create a bridge between various internet options and WiFi dead zones. It connects either internet gateway and boosts the wireless WiFi signals to a further distance, all while offering Ethernet for a reliable wired connection.
What sets the extender apart is the mobile modem and SIM card features. Even if the primary internet goes down, you’re not left in the dark – the extender can switch to mobile internet to keep you connected. Plus, you can take it on the go and set up a WiFi hotspot wherever you have cell service.
With a SIM card range extender, you’re not just extending your WiFi hotspots, but also creating a more robust, flexible network for your home and beyond.
Setting Internet Gateways On Extender
Except for the internal mobile modem, the SIM card-enabled WiFi extender can also work with internet traffic from wired WAN and wireless WiFi relay. You can enable all of them on the SIM WiFi extender or use only one of them. The wired LAN and WiFi hotspots use the primary internet gateway.
Wired WAN Connection
WAN stands for wide area network, which is used to input internet traffic. All of our SIM enabled routers and extenders have a built-in RJ45 WAN port. Use a standard LAN cable to connect the WAN port to another internet modem, and the WAN interface will be activated.
Enable WAN On The PoE Injector
For outdoor router models that use PoE to send DC power and Ethernet data, you need to open the enclosure and change the PoE cable from the LAN port to the WAN port, as the diagram below shows.
Wireless Link Of WiFi Relay
The SIM-enabled WiFi extender is a fully functional wireless router that creates its own master mode WiFi hotspots and guest WiFi. It also supports WiFi relay, also called WiFi repeater, which works in client mode to link to an existing WiFi hotspot as a client device. When joining another WiFi network, the router obtains internet connectivity through that target wireless access point.
After configuring the WiFi relay to join an existing WiFi network, the wireless overview page displays “Mode: Client” as image shows below. By then, it has successfully connected to the target WiFi network to rebroadcast and extend the WiFi coverage. Please check the router’s wireless setting manual for more instructions on the WiFi relay configuration details.
Control Primary Internet Gateway
When multiple internet gateways are enabled, the SIM enabled WiFi extender uses internet traffic in the order of WAN > Mobile > WiFi relay on default settings.
The SIM enabled WiFi extender has an advanced load balancing function to control the connection priority from multiple internet sources. You can change the connection order or use all of them together. By setting custom traffic rules, you can assign any device to use a specific gateway.
